Mid City Artists: Open Studios - May 18 & 19

Save these dates! On the afternoons of May 18 and May 19, Mid City Artists (MCA) open the private studios where they make their art to the public. Tour 25+ studios, in the Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, U Street and Shaw neighborhoods. Walk from one studio to another within this vibrant downtown (all within 2 square miles) or grab a pedicab or bikeshare to get around. This bi-annual event, now in its 10th year, offers visitors a rare glimpse into the artists' working space with unique locations ranging from offices, retail, carriage houses, spare bedrooms, apartments to basements. The participating artists represent a great diversity of work, including drawings, sculptures, paintings, prints, photographs and mixed media.

Hang out with friends, circulate through the neighborhood, check out the art, eat, drink and be merry . . . purchase some art for yourself and as gifts. Be inspired! Buy local.

Plan your visits in advance by flipping through the artists' pages online to see what you like, who is participating, and when. Not all artists are open both days.

Download the map to guide you along or visit the website closer to the event to get a free smartphone app that you can use on your tour. We will also have more information on special meetup tours led by local art luminaries.
